128 types of aromatics were awaiting D.O’s choice in the perfume organ made for Louis XV by Lord Jean de Galimard, who made perfumes used in the French royal family. It was time to start mixing perfumes full scale in order of bass note, middle note, and top note. It is a job in which not just one scent from each level goes in, but at least two or at most five scents are combined to bring into existence an indescribable scent that comes to the tip of one’s nose. Without any sign of difficulty at the thick scents spreading out endlessly every time he opens a bottle of aromatics, D.O did not get up from his seat even just with refreshing his olfactory senses with the scent of coffee. While the scents built up one by one, it was a carefully created process of endlessly trying the scents. Cedar wood, amber, musk, lily of the valley flower, mimosa aldehyde, D.O’s poem was becoming complete even with just the scent’s enchanting names. What was the self image in the poem that D.O thought of? EXO member D.O’s personality? 22-year-old individual Do Kyungsoo’s personality? Or It’s Okay, It’s Love Jang Jaeyeol’s young ghost Han Kangwoo’s refreshing personality? D.O’s answer is “I am all of them. There are times when I’m cool but usually I’m a friendly youth who loves to play around. I also keep an innocence of shedding tears while watching a movie. I want to try putting all those personalities into one perfume.” Even with his busy world tour, by wisely regulating his schedule and experiencing new things as an actor through It’s Okay, It’s Love, he is in a time of feeling a diverse range of emotions all at once. “I didn’t receive proper training in acting. It was really hard at first. The director and staffs told me “the answer is to act like you in your way.” Thanks to them, my heart was at ease and acting became really fun. If I get the chance, I want to continue doing it!”
The perfume that was like a commemoration celebrating that happy arrival, “a boy’s scent,” was finally complete. Among wide or long shaped perfume bottles, the perfume was poured into a long shaped perfume bottle, and D.O’s very own label with a serial number and the perfume’s name was produced. After a ten days to two weeks period of maturity, the 100% perfume that D.O himself created will be complete. Although it is currently just a complicatedly mixed scent that is incomplete, he himself could fully feel what it is. It was a scent like a fluffy cotton cloud reflected upon a clear lake. For a long time, the soft scent of the boy with pure eyes floated around filling the Galimard perfume studio.
