[171210] EXO’s “The War” Becomes Their Best-Selling Album With Almost 1.6 Million Copies Sold

EXO has broken another one of their own sales records with their most recent album!

According to Gaon Chart, EXO’s fourth studio album “The War” has recorded 1,592,792 copies sold as of November 30, with the original album having sold 1,086,307 copies, and its repackaged edition “The War: The Power of Music” having sold 506,485 copies.

With almost 1.6 million albums sold, “The War” is the group’s best-selling album since their debut in 2012 so far, and is currently also the best-selling K-pop album of 2017.

EXO was the first group in 12 years to sell over a million physical copies back in 2013 with their first studio album, and their subsequent second and third studio albums also surpassed one million in sales. In 2016, the group set a record when they sold over 2.13 million albums overall. Earlier this year, EXO gained the title of “quadruple million seller” in just 24 days after “The War” was released on July 19.

Their title track “Ko Ko Bop” also currently holds the record for staying first place on Gaon Chart’s digital chart the longest without pause, at four consecutive weeks, has surpassed 1 million in digital downloads, and was the most tweeted about song in 2017.

Meanwhile, EXO will be releasing their annual winter special album on December 21, and will also be continuing their fourth concert tour “EXO PLANET #4 – The EℓyXiOn” with concerts in Fukuoka on December 22-24.

EXO's platinum plaque to celebrate the group's amazing achievement of selling over 1 million copies for 'The War' is finally here!

One of the producers, Vakseen, who worked on 'The War' album with EXO, uploaded a short video of the platinum plaque that was presented to him in his name. He helped create songs such as "Sweet Lies", "Chill", and "Going Crazy". Along with their title song "Ko Ko Bop", the album itself also did extremely well that sold over 1 million copies across the globe. Now, a plaque has been presented to commemorate their amazing results and success.

[170824] EXO Tops Gaon’s Digital Chart For 4th Week With “Ko Ko Bop

EXO has grabbed the top spot on Gaon’s Digital Chart once again with “Ko Ko Bop.”

The title track off their latest album “The War” comes in at No. 1 once again on Gaon’s Digital Chart for the week of August 13 to 19, as well as Gaon’s BGM Chart.

This is an impressive feat by EXO because they have placed No. 1 on the Digital Chart for a total of four weeks overall with “Ko Ko Bop,” which is the most out of 2017 releases so far.

EXO’s album “The War” also sold over a million copies in approximately 24 days.  As all four of their albums released have sold over a million copies, this made them a quadruple million seller.

“Ko Ko Bop” has also come in at No. 1 on the popular Chinese music site Xiami Music, in addition to “The War” scoring No. 1 on the iTunes album charts of 42 countries. EXO also placed No. 1 two weeks in a row on Billboard’s World Albums chart with their latest album, as well as took No. 1 on the Apple Music albums charts of 18 countries.

Meanwhile, it was recently announced that the group will be holding their fourth Korean solo concert from November 24 through 26.

[170814] EXO Comments On Officially Becoming A Quadruple Million Seller

EXO has officially become a quadruple million seller!

According to Gaon, EXO’s fourth studio album “The War” has sold a total of 1,012,021 copies so far, making this their fourth album to exceed a million sales. The album was released on July 19, so it only took them approximately 24 days to achieve this incredible feat.

In regards to their quadruple million milestone, EXO commented, “It hasn’t even been a month since our album came out, so it’s unbelievable that we already sold over a million copies. We’ll work really hard to repay all the love we’ve received.”

They then added, “We’re grateful to all our fans who made this possible. We will continue to return with better music and performances.”

Back in 2013, EXO was the first group in 12 years to sell a million physical copies of their first album. They then surpassed the 1 million mark with their second album in 2015, and officially became a triple million seller last year with “EX’ACT” and its corresponding repackaged album “LOTTO.”

EXO released their fourth album 'The War' on July 19, and since then in the span of 24 days, have recorded album sales of approximately 1,012,021 copies. 'The War' is EXO's fastest album to reach a million sales confirming the group's immense power and popularity. 

Back in 2013, EXO set the record for a million seller with 'XOXO' which was the first album to gain a million sales in twelve years. Then in 2015, their second full-length album 'EXODUS' sold over a million copies. Following that year, in 2016 'Ex'Act' marked the group's third million seller. 

Regarding their consecutive million seller streak the group stated, "It hasn't even been a month since our album came out, and the fact that the album sold over a million copies is unbelievable. We feel that we must work harder to match the love we have received." They continued, "These results are all because of the fans. With a grateful heart, we will continue to create good music and performances." 

With the release of "Ko Ko Bop" EXO immediately snagged first place on various music charts including the iTunes album chart. For two weeks, the group remained at the top spot on Billboard's World Album Chart, and have been number one on Apple Music and eighteen other locations. The group has swiped first place on several music award shows as well as other music charts such as United World Chart and China's Xiami Music showcasing their global popularity.

EXO is now the highest selling K-Pop boy group in Korean history!

On the latest Gaon Chart Rankings, EXO topped the National Physical Album Ranking with the Korean and Chinese versions of 'The War'. It's revealed that the boy group sold a total of 959,417 copies as of July 31.

With the incredible success of 'The War', EXO has now officially become the best selling boy group in terms of album sales with total sales of 7.403 million (album sales from South Korea only); beating the records set by legendary artists Seo Taiji and Boys (7.2 million), H.O.T (7.024 million), and TVXQ (5.45 million).
