[161021] EXO’s Lay hilariously reacts to fans watching his ‘What U Need’ MV

Despite his busy schedules, EXO‘s Lay had some time off his hands to watch EXO-Ls react to his newly, released music video, “What U Need” and both reactions are hilariously priceless.

The video was originally uploaded on his Weibo account, but later re-uploaded by a fan on Youtube for international fans around the world to view as well. The SM Entertainment artist is seen cozily sitting on a couch as he searches for fan reactions of his music video with an amusing smile on his face.

In the first screenshot, two fans are shown excitingly asking each other which language Lay was going to sing in the music video, in which Lay smiles and responds, “Chinese”.

In the second screenshot, Lay can’t hold back his smile as he watches one of his fans groove to the catchy beats of his song. The fan comments that he enjoys the beat very much and wishes he knew what Lay was singing about.

The third screenshot shows Lay staring at his fans in amusement as his three fans are so in awe with Lay’s presence in the video that they couldn’t even utter a word to each other.

In the fourth screenshot, a fan is jokingly demanding to know how many times Lay is going to “kill” her in the music video in which Lay responds without hesitation, “Twice”.

In the final screenshot, a fan becomes so overwhelmed with emotions of Lay’s cute-kiss-on the-screen move that she throws herself abruptly on her chair and almost falls over.

Currently, Lay is going to release his first mini solo album, Lose Control, next week on October 28th, with six fresh, new tracks, including his catchy”What U Need” song.

EXO′s Lay has swept charts in Korea, China, Japan and even Europe with solo single what U need, which was released on October 7.

The music video for what U need reached over 1 million views within 21 hours, which is a record for a Chinese national singer. Additionally, Lay also set a record as a Chinese singer in the US by ranking number 3 on the US iTunes′ Music Video Chart and number 2 on the Pop Chart. 

As soon as the full version of Lay′s what U need was released, it reacher number 1 on music charts in China and became a trending topic on Twitter in the UK, France, Japan, Korea, Thailand and Malaysia.

The music video reached over 1 million views within 21 hours and over 1.23 million views within 24 hours. Likes on the video also exceeded 180,000.

In less than 24 hours since its release at 12 p.m. KST on October 7, EXO member Lay’s “what U need” music video has marked 1 million views on YouTube!

A little before 10 a.m. KST on October 8, the video surpassed this milestone and, at the time of this article, approximately has 1.2 million views.

This release was a special gift to the fans on his birthday, preceding the singer’s impending solo debut sometime this year. Not only does it heighten the anticipation for what’s to come, but the music video also hints at the next release with a message that says, “Losing Control. Coming Soon.”

The first EXO member to make his official solo debut, Lay released “what U need” ahead of the rest of his album at noon KST on his birthday, October 7, as a gift for all the fans.

Notably, the singer was not only the co-composer and co-lyricist of the song, but he also was involved in the design and planning of the music video as well as the choreography.

The track itself sports a bright and upbeat melody, accompanied by a funky backtrack as he sings about being overwhelmed by someone he loves. The more simple music video showcases Lay’s charismatic dance moves that suit the song perfectly.

The first soloist from EXO has been announced to be member Lay!

Just days before the confirmation by his agency SM Entertainment, Lay revealed to fans his plans to drop a solo album soon. According to reports, there are chances that it will be released this October though his official debut date is likely to change.

SM Entertainment said on September 21st, “Lay is now preparing to release a solo album in China,” but on a release date, they replied, “It hasn’t been decided yet.”

Lay is the first member from boy group EXO to go solo officially, and it is expected to help him further solidify his position as a top celebrity in China. While it is for sure he will be releasing a solo album in China, a Korean release is still pending.
