[180129] EXO’s Baekhyun Comments On 2018 Comeback, Meetup With Lay, And D.O.’s Films

EXO’s Baekhyun recently surprised fans with an impromptu Naver V Live broadcast on January 30.

During the broadcast, the singer answered fans’ questions about all sorts of topics, ranging from gaming to his dog to his fellow members. He fulfilled their song requests as well, and sang snippets of not only EXO’s own songs, but also other popular tracks like Taemin’s “Move,” Sunmi’s “Gashina,” and Yoon Jong Shin’s “Like It.”

Jumping from topic to topic, Baekhyun revealed that the most recent movie he saw was “The Outlaws,” which was released back in October 2017. The EXO member commented he hasn’t been able to see D.O.’s latest film, “Along With the Gods: The Two Worlds.”

“I should have watched our Kyung Soo [D.O.]’s film. I plan to watch it at home. For some reason, I want to watch anything Kyung Soo is in comfortably, like this,” Baekhyun explained. “I heard that ‘Along With the Gods’ is really sad. I really cried a lot while watching that movie, Kyung Soo’s ‘My Annoying Brother.'” While on the topic of D.O., the singer shared the reasoning behind his nickname for D.O., saying, “It’s because Kyung Soo is cute.”

He also brought up when EXO-CBX met up with Lay while they were in China for a diplomatic event, revealing, “You know how we saw Lay in China? He treated us to Peking duck [also known as Beijing duck]. It was really delicious.”

In response to one fan asking him when EXO will be making a comeback, Baekhyun replied, “Should I give a spoiler for our comeback? Really? Are you guys curious?” After teasing a little, he shared, “This year will be very, very amazing. The end! Done! I’m not going to reveal anything.”

Meanwhile, EXO will be dropping their first full-length Japanese album on January 31. They recently completed another leg of their fourth concert tour in Saitama, Japan, and will be continuing with more concerts over the next few months. EXO-CBX will also be returning to Japan in May for their first ever arena tour.

[170719] Baekhyun says 'Ko Ko Bop' is just the warm-up before the repackaged version of 'The War'?

On July 19, EXO's Chanyeol, D.O, Baekhyun, and Sehun held a 'V Live' broadcast titled, 'Eating Show - Let's Eat Together'!

On this episode of 'Eating Show' featuring the 4 EXO members, the boys feasted on grilled eel. Chanyeol said, "Today's food is eel. I think it's so we can regain our strength. It is a food known to chase away the heat. It is also very appropriate for our promotions. We'll be starting up music show promotions soon, so regaining our strength like this will really help us."

During the mukbang, the members showcased their pride in their latest title track, "Ko Ko Bop". Chanyeol shared, "After hearing a detailed explanation, we heart 'Ko Ko Bop' for the first time, and our reactions were hot. Kai's reaction was especially fired up. We got excited, so we prepared harder. With 'Ko Ko Bop', everyone really agreed on it. It was like 'Growl'. When we heard 'Growl', we and the company staff all had the same reactions. 'Ko Ko Bop' was the same."

Baekhyun gave fans blatant hints about their repackaged album! He announced, "Truthfully, we have a repackaged album on the way. There's no reason to hide this... 'Ko Ko Bop' is exactly what it is, an eve or a prequel. The title of our new album is 'The War'. You can see it as us enjoying the eve before the fight, then marching off to the real war. Right now, this is the tip of the iceberg. When we heard the concept, we thought, 'That's SM for you.' Their planning blew my mind."

Did you catch Chanyeol, D.O, Baekhyun, and Sehun on 'Eating Show - Let's Eat Together'?

[170719] EXO Members Draw Parallels Between “Ko Ko Bop” And “Growl”

EXO members had a candid talk about their new album.

On the July 19 broadcast of their Naver V Live, EXO’s Chanyeol, D.O., Baekhyun, and Sehun talked while eating together.

During the broadcast, Baekhyun said, “‘Ko Ko Bop’ feels very similar to ‘Growl.’ Everyone in the company and also all of the EXO members loved ‘Growl,’ and it was the same for ‘Ko Ko Bop.'” Chanyeol agreed, “It reminded me a lot of [‘Growl’].”

D.O. said, “I can see that the fans are being united with this album. A lot of people are sending us compliments saying that it’s the best that we’ve ever released, and we thank them from the bottom of our hearts.”

Meanwhile, EXO will make their official comeback with their new song “Ko Ko Bop” on “M! Countdown” on July 20.

[170719] Which EXO member doesn't eat much?

On their July 19th episode of 'V App Live', EXO broadcast a mukbang for 'EXO's Chanyeol, D.O., Baekhyun, Sehun Eating Show' stream.

Chanyeol expressed, "The members all said they were hungry, so we're doing a mukbang," and Baekhyun added, "We're eating with our fans. A lot of people eat alone, so I hope you eat with us. I think I can eat everything all because I didn't eat dinner. Chanyeol doesn't eat much, but I think he can eat a lot these days."

Chanyeol responded, "I eat a lot these days. Today's dish is eel. We prepared it, so we can restore ourselves. It's a food that makes the heat go away. I think it's a good food for our promotions."

In other news, EXO recently returned with "Ko Ko Bop".

[170718] EXO Goes Into Detail About Their Contributions To “The War” Album + “Ko Ko Bop” Music Video

EXO finally made a comeback on July 18, and the members and fans’ excitement are one and the same.

Shortly after their album “The War” was digitally released at 6 p.m. KST, the group discussed various aspects of it through a broadcast on V Live.

Suho started off by reiterating how involved the members were this time around, saying, “We personally took photographs for the album booklet, and participated in lyric-making as well. [That’s why] we are really looking forward to our promotions.”

As previously revealed, there are three versions available for both the Korean and Chinese albums, A, B, and Private. The “Private” version is the specific one that includes photos taken by the members themselves, as well as commentary about each of the songs.

EXO recalled how while they were filming the music video, each of the members were given an analog camera and went around taking pictures of each other during breaks and such. Leader Suho, who recently gained an interest in photography, expressed, “A lot of the photos I took were included…it’s the first time I’ve ever shot with film, but the pictures came out so well.”

The group also gave a closer look at the nine tracks that are included in their “The War” album. As they listened to a small portion of each track, the members added their own comments as well as revealed some interesting facts.

Overall, EXO appeared extremely pleased with the entire album, as they continued to express their satisfaction. About their title track “Ko Ko Bop,” Sehun said, “When the members first heard it, we were like, ‘Wow, this is so nice.'” He went on to explain that it might be his favorite out of all of their title tracks over the years, and how he thinks the song suits EXO.

As one of the lyricists of the track, along with Chen and Baekhyun, Chanyeol explained a little more about how “Ko Ko Bop” is a phrase that encompasses the overall feeling of “let’s have fun dancing to the rhythm of the music.” The rapper also showed a great liking towards b-side track “Forever,” and discussed the juxtaposition of a powerful backtrack and the more cheerful lyrics. “I think that this type of song suits EXO the best. It has an addictive quality to it,” Chanyeol elaborated. He took part in the making of “Chill” as well, not only writing the lyrics, but also personally directing the recording of rap portion.

Chen also opened up about “Touch It,” which he wrote the lyrics for. He stated, “It talks about a man who nervously doesn’t know what to do at every little movement made by a girl he likes.” He went on to explain that he thought about how the fans react to every little thing they do, and in gratitude, he wrote lyrics thinking about what it would be like if their roles were switched.

During the broadcast, EXO watched their own music video for “Ko Ko Bop,” and shared fun little tidbits, like how the license plate including EXO-L’s anniversary date was a detail suggested by the members themselves. They also revealed that it took three days to film everything.

As for the overall storyline, the group clarified, “It’s not so much that there is one exact explanation, but it’s open to interpretation.”

Baekhyun offered his view, and pointed out, “”We fell from outer space…[and there are] scenes where we transform from aliens to humans. That scene where we’re all lying down on the grass is when we first fell from space.” Earlier during the broadcast, the singer had said that “Ko Ko Bop” marked the beginning of their descent to Earth, and how their powers humanize as they become normal, unlike how their previous music videos showed “their past.”

“We’ve always had powers, but if you watch the music video, we are all using the most basic form, you could say level one, of our powers, when they were really weak,” Kai chimed in.

In addition to all of this, the members opened up about their eye-catching new hairstyles, showed off various body contortion talents, showed off their best dance moves—as well as yet another spoiler for a future performance involving the members pairing off—, and so much more during the live show.

Meanwhile, EXO will be appearing on a series of broadcasts on July 19 as well, and will be performing title track “Ko Ko Bop” and b-side track “The Eve” on their first music show appearance on the July 20 broadcast of “M!Countdown”!

[170418] EXO's Baekhyun apologizes for sasaeng fan calls constantly interrupting 'V live' broadcast

On April 17, EXO's Baekhyun held a Naver 'V live' broadcast, chatting with fans idly right before bed.

But fans noticed that during the broadcast, the live video kept getting cut off, and eventually, Baekhyun apologized for it in the midst of answering fans' questions himself. He said, "Sorry. It was an error. There is a reason for it."

After a while longer, he explained, "Because someone is calling me. Please stop calling me! I need to broadcast."

Baekhyun continued to answer fans' questions, including comeback spoilers, how to change his hair style for EXO's next comeback, and more, but further into the broadcast, he added, "I don't know how they know my numbers." When fans, or EXO-Ls, also expressed wonder at how the sasaeng fans managed to get ahold of the members' numbers, Baekhyun responded, "Right? It's really amazing."

He also answered that when sasaeng fans call, he simply does not answer. In the end, after chatting further, the idol put his phone into airplane mode, then was able chat with fans about a number of random topics without interruption, from his upcoming birthday, to spontaneous bouts of aegyo, and more.

Netizens commented about the interruptions, "Remember when they had to stand guard outside the bathrooms because of sasaengs?", "They're just calling to see if it really is the right number", "That must be why when they're doing group 'V' apps, they ask for the managers' phones...", "SM artists seem to have a particularly hard time with sasaengs", and more.

[170408] EXO Says Thanks For Last 5 Years With Adorable Messages + Fans Celebrate Meaningfully Worldwide

April 8, and with it EXO’s debut anniversary, has come and gone, but not without some special memories.

Since their debut in 2012, EXO has risen to become one of the most decorated groups in K-pop history with 17 daesangs (grand prizes) alone, as well as one of the best-selling artists with their last three full albums all selling over a million physical copies each.

By their side for the last five years, every step of the way when every piece of history was made, were their fans. As a special thank you to EXO-Ls around the world for always being there, EXO revealed a special video later on the evening of April 8.

While they also held an unexpected V live broadcast at midnight KST, the members all expressed feelings of nostalgia and awe as they thanked their fans.

Baekhyun noted how EXO and fans have been able to share many memories together, “from their first win to their first concert to winning Daesangs for four years in a row.” Sehun reflected on how he debuted as a teen but is now in his 20s, while Xiumin, Chen, and D.O said that while they may not be able to celebrate with fans on April 8, they will work hard to be able to energize everyone during their encore concerts in May.

Chanyeol discussed how the anniversary makes him think of past years, and allows him to realize that EXO and fans will be together for a long time, and Kai similarly said, “We have a lot of time left together. 10, 20, 30 years later, we will always be together with you all.” Finally, Suho ended with a similar message to what he said during their V Live broadcast, as he looked back on the last five years. Unfortunately, Lay was unable to participate as this was filmed during their Singapore concert.

Suho also added an additional, pun-ladened message later through EXO’s fan board, and said he hoped they could stay together for a long, long time. Baekhyun also greeted fans with another surprise, casual V Live broadcast, where he chatted about random topics.

Their longtime manager Noh Yong Min, who has been with them before they even debuted, also relayed his congratulations through a short and sweet message.

Meanwhile, EXO-Ls celebrated this day with numerous projects and events throughout the day. One notable happening was when 10 of EXO’s songs climbed the ranks of music charts, and their debut track “MAMA,” even re-entered the top 100 chart.

Fans worldwide also celebrated with ads in some of the biggest places like Times Square in New York, and SM Mall of Asia Globe in the Philippines. Several international fanbases also teamed up to promote a Twitter ad, dubbed, “Spread the Love with EXO.”

While countless of billboard, newspaper, bus advertisements, and trending worldwide on Twitter as well as on search rankings are impressive, the real celebration was how fans banded together to donate and participate in philanthropic events in EXO’s name.

Just to name a few of the countless projects, Chinese fans participated in numerous projects to help everyone from children to workers, Korean fans donated 100 kilograms of rice to those in need, and Indian EXO-Ls donated 1 million won (approximately $900) to help less fortunate children.

Happy fifth anniversary to EXO, as well as EXO-Ls, once more!

*A previous version of this incorrectly stated the conversion of won to dollars.

[170408] EXO Updates Fans + Counts Down To 5th Debut Anniversary With Surprise Live Broadcast

Can you believe the superpower-wielding (courtesy of the Tree of Life), hailing from an exoplanet, “Turnback!” EXO is now a five-year-old, top best-selling, history-making group!

Just before the clock hit midnight KST on April 8, the group surprised fans with an unexpected V Live broadcast from their hotel in Macao, where they will be performing at the YinYueTai V Chart Awards.

As expected by the group’s resident hyper-active beagle, Chanyeol started the broadcast off trying to pretend that he was the only one in the room. Sehun quickly ruined that, and the two tried to keep the charade up before revealing that six other members were actually watching them, all in the room.

With some time to spare until they could countdown until the clock turned midnight, which was the real reason for the broadcast, EXO’s leader suddenly asked, “What have you been doing lately Sehun?,” and then joked, “I heard you have grudges you’re holding.”

After another bout of laughter, most of EXO revealed that they were currently enjoying their downtime while simultaneously preparing for their highly sought-after comeback, just like how Suho previously mentioned. As they kept joking and interrupting each other, throughout the whole broadcast of course, Sehun said that he was currently obsessed with an old-school computer game, while Baekhyun, to no one’s surprise, talked about how he also spends his time gaming before mentioning his upcoming SM STATION solo release.

Xiumin proudly discussed his first pitch for LG Twins, and how his favorite team won for the fifth time in a row, while D.O explained he was currently resting after wrapping up filming his latest film, “Room Number 7.” Chen reiterated that they’ve been focusing on recording for their newest album, while the “currently busiest member” Kai revealed he had to stay in Japan for three more days to finish filming for his Japanese drama.

A brief introduction of their well-known, longtime manager Noh Yong Min, Chanyeol bragged about how he’s been spending all of his time bowling (yes, not snowboarding). With just two minutes to go, the members reminisced about their debut stage, and “because [they] could finally talk about it,” expressed how “they had to get up too early,” which is why a lot of their voices weren’t ready during the showcase.

All of a sudden, the members began excitedly counting down the seconds until it was finally April 8 KST.

“We were happy these last five years. Truthfully, there were sad moments and happy moments, but I think we were able to be happy to this day because we’ve shared all of them together. We want to thank you,” Suho said, speaking for the whole group. “It’s our fifth anniversary. Now that we’re five years old, we still have 10, 15, 20, 50? years ahead of us left…We have the rest of our concerts. All that’s left is for us to show you have how hard we’ve been preparing. Thank you so much for always loving EXO, including Lay who was unable to be here, and we hope you will continue to love us.”

The video ended in typical random EXO-style, with the group chatting about other minor topics, teasing their lovable leader about his brief live performance of “Curtain,” and checking out Baekhyun’s newly released teaser.

While member Lay could not be there in person, he had updated fans for the first time in a while through Weibo with a series of gorgeous selfies just hours before.

April 8 is far from over, and EXO still has a couple things planned for this special day. Stay tuned not only for their performance, but also a sweet gift later this evening KST!

Happy fifth debut anniversary to EXO!

[161028] EXO’s Chanyeol Almost Loses Control As He Watches Lay’s New Solo MV Before Giving Him A Call

On October 28, EXO member Chanyeol hosted a live show on Naver’s V app where he shared his reaction to his group mate Lay’s new MV!

Lay’s music video for his new solo track “Lose Control” came out at 1 a.m. KST, while Chanyeol was broadcasting live on V. Right at 1 a.m. he excitedly starts to look for the video, and spends a good few minutes trying to find it. He hilariously keeps getting shocked whenever he clicks on SHINee’s “1 of 1” MV on the SMTOWN channel by mistake, and eventually gives in and just starts dancing to it.

He decides the video’s not out yet, so he watches the teaser video for his group mates Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin’s new sub-unit EXO-CBX with a big grin on his face, before he sees fans comment that Lay’s video is out. He heads back to look for it, but ends up jumping again when he plays “1 of 1” by mistake once more.

“It’s not out yet!” he says to the viewers, totally confused. “There’s just a teaser!” He gives up another time (after dancing to “1 of 1” again) before suddenly landing on the video by mistake. “It’s out!” he says with a huge smile, before telling fans proudly that Lay wrote the lyrics for the song and took part in its production.

He then settles in to watch the video in amazement while narrating it for fans and pointing out that one of the dancers is his friend. “Oh! His eyes are red!” he says in excitement. “He’s lying down in bed! The lights are so red!” He then adorably gets embarrassed and covers his face with his hands, peeking out between his fingers.

As the song is in Chinese, he admits to the camera, “I have absolutely no idea what he’s singing. But the lyrics seem sad.” He then gets surprised when Lay drops into the water and yells, “He’s fallen in the water! Lay is a good swimmer though!” He’s soon absolutely shocked when he sees Lay dancing with his shirt off, and yells to the viewers, “He’s taken off his clothes!”

He happily applauds when it’s done, saying it was really cool and that he can see how hard Lay worked over the three-day MV filming before giving a thumbs up.

He decides to try to give Lay a call, warning fans that he might not pick up. Lay does answer the phone, and Chanyeol excitedly tells him that he just watched his MV and did a reaction video. Lay laughs and says hello to all the V viewers.

Chanyeol jokes with Lay that he doesn’t believe him when he says that taking off his shirt was part of the video’s story, and that it must have been Lay’s own decision for another reason. They then talk about the process of filming the video over three days, before Chanyeol congratulates Lay on his solo debut and Lay says he’s really touched. “Put out your own solo album soon!” says Lay.

Watch the fun video here! His epic search for the “Lose Control” MV starts at about 30:35, and his reaction starts at around 35:08.

[160630] EXO's Baekhyun tries to master game

Broadcast date: June 29
Starring: Exo's Baekhyun, M.A.P.6 and Chanyeol

(omitted EXO unrelated)

Baekhyun

Baekhyun of boy band EXO tried Wednesday during a live V app broadcast to prove that he can excel at the game “League of Legends.”

He had been defeated at the game in previous broadcasted episodes, which had resulted in him constantly grimacing and sighing, however things seemed different this time around.

The idol, who was wearing a neck band with the words “Victory,” seemed confident. He said smugly, “I could type the keyboard the fastest in my class when I was a kid.”

“I can write the words ‘I love you’ in less than a second. My mouse clicking speed is very quick as well,” said Baekhyun, proudly announcing that he would perform to his full potential for the “LOL” game match.

The match began and when Baekhyun’s performance on the game took a turn for the worse, he appeared somewhat discouraged.

When things went his way, he yelled in triumph, saying, “That is the spirit. This is the true Baekhyun.”

However, when his character in the game finally succumbed to a fierce siege by opponents, he said, “It was hard. I am alright.”

EXO’s Chanyeol

EXO’s Chanyeol transformed into a producer on Wednesday during a V app broadcast.

Along with BeatBurger’s MQ, the two musicians shared ideas on what theme or title to adopt before starting things.

Chanyeol occasionally skimmed through the online chat room on the V app for ideas
