[151117] Ilgan Sports: EXO Baekhyun, to take on ‘Moon’s Lover’ as his first drama since début

EXO’s Baekhyun (23, Byun Baekhyun) will appear in a drama for the first time since his début.

A representative of the drama explained to Daily Sports on 17th that, ‘Baekhyun will make his drama début through ‘Moon’s Lover’, a remake of Chinese drama ‘Scarlet Heart’.’ Baekhyun will transform into one of the princes. As previously announced, Lee Junki is reviewing the scenario positively and Kang Haneul has also been cast in this drama.

With this, Baekhyun is challenging the field of traditional drama for the first time since EXO’s début in 2012. Earlier this year he appeared in the web drama ‘EXO Next Door’, where he acted as himself. This time, however, he is taking on a traditional drama. EXO members Suho (‘Glory Day’), Chanyeol (‘Jangsu Store’), D.O (‘Cart,’ ‘I Remember You,’ ‘It’s Okay, It’s Love’) and now Baekhyun, have become active as actors.

‘Moon’s Lover’ is a story about a woman from the present, who accidentally travels back in time to the period of Qing Dynasty. It became extremely popular on Hunan TV, with a total of 35 episodes produced back in 2011. With the original story set in China, it has required extensive adaptation in order to fit a Korean setting.

Casting for the lead roles is in the finishing stages and production is scheduled to begin once supporting role casting is complete. Director Kim Kyutae, whose previous work includes ‘That, Winter The Wind Is Blowing’ and ‘It’s Okay, It’s Love’, will be producing this drama.
