[181022] Hanteo Chart Promises To Fix New Error In Calculating Pre-Orders Of EXO’s Unreleased Album “Don’t Mess Up My Tempo”

After EXO fans discovered a new error on Hanteo’s album chart, Hanteo Chart has responded with an official statement promising that it will calculate sales of EXO’s upcoming album properly.

On October 21, EXO fans noticed that the group’s upcoming album “Don’t Mess Up My Tempo” had been added to Hanteo’s physical album chart, even though the album had not yet been released. “Don’t Mess Up My Tempo” is currently ranked at No. 4 on the group physical album chart, alarming fans, who pointed out to Hanteo Chart that pre-orders of an album are supposed to count towards first-day sales.

Hanteo Chart acknowledged its error in two separate statements released later that day, in which the company promised to correct its mistake.

In a statement posted to its official website, Hanteo Chart wrote, “Because there have been many questions from fans, we are informing you [of the situation] before our official announcement tomorrow. After checking to see the reason why EXO’s ‘Don’t Mess Up My Tempo’ album was reflected on the charts, we found that SMTOWN’s pre-orders were not processed separately and were automatically reflected [on our charts].

“To elaborate further, our company’s system is linked to each ‘family’ [partner] retailer automatically. Our system is that before an album’s official release, each retailer processes pre-order sales separately, and at the time of the release, those sales are translated into invoices or store receipts that are then reflected [on our charts].

“Because SM’s processing team is currently closed for business, we plan to correct [the pre-orders in question] tomorrow so that they will be processed separately. There is no need to worry about [the pre-orders] being omitted from the first period of sales [after the album’s release], as fans are worried they might. You do not need to worry. Thank you.”

Hanteo Chart also posted a similar message on Twitter, reiterating their promise to fix the error so that pre-orders of EXO’s album would be properly calculated as part of their first-day sales.

The company wrote, “Today, due to a data-processing error at one of our family retailers, EXO’s ‘Don’t Mess Up My Tempo’ album sales are being reflected [on our charts]. Because the retailer in question is currently closed for business, we will correct [the error] and release an official announcement tomorrow.

“Furthermore, the sales in question will be correctly reflected on the day of the album’s release, so you do not need to worry. Thank you.”

EXO’s fifth studio album “Don’t Mess Up My Tempo” will be released in three versions on November 2, with EXO holding a comeback showcase in Seoul that same day.
